Spring is one of my favorite times of year. I love that the days are getting longer, the weather is becoming warmer, and summer is just around the corner! I'm so excited to join this amazing linky party with lots of freebies that are tied to mentor texts and spring.
And Then It's Spring is a great mentor text to support sequencing and retelling. In this fun story a little boy plants seeds, but is very worried while he is waiting for them grow! My favorite part of the book is when he imagines bears stomping on his seeds because they can't read the sign that says: Please Do No Stomp Here. Be reassured that it all ends well!
This freebie was meant to be used after reading. It will work great for this story and other stories. There are two different graphic organizers included.
The first graphic organizer is focused on writing the steps. There is a color version of this that can be laminated or put in a page protector. This option allows students to draw or write their sequence of the story. The other option allows students to draw a picture and write a sentence about the sequence of events in the story.
Below are samples from And Then It's Spring sequencing.
